Hi,

I found out that the pool company who built my pool were adding 4 OZ of this stuff each week before I purchased and assumed control of the pool. Is this necessary?

Not needed.

The SDS says all the ingredients are a trade secret so it wouldnt meet the requirement of “only put stuff in your pool if you know what it is, and what it does”.

Its likely a sequestrant but says its corrosive. In any case, if uour watwr diesnt have high concentrations of iron or copper a sequestrant isnt needed.
