I purchased an SR Smith artisan pool rail that shows 8 inches from center to center to fit into sleeves in my deck. Now that I have the rail it is 6 Center to Center or 8 inches outer edge to outer edge. Do I just persuade it to fit? there is some flex, any experience on this? it seems well out of tolerance needing to stretch nearly 2 inches to the 8 inches center to center, I have in my deck.

I think you just bend it to fit.

Have you called Smith and asked them?

Contact S.R Smith and see what they say.

I would not try to force it.

The legs need to be vertical and parallel when installed.

They are about 1.5" off.

Forcing the legs open will cause them to be out of alignment.

Contacted SR Smith - I agree it feels too wide and it will just POP out of alignment - not good

What was the result? I’m getting ready to order this exact model and would like to know what to expect.
They replaced it - so I would have no issues buying equipment from SR Smith. I actually bought from a retail outlet but SR stepped in and handled the replacement directly.
