Spa draining

Hello all-

My spillover spa is suddenly draining into the pool when the pool pump is on.

If I put it in spillover mode, it fills enough to not drain, but never increases the water level. It just maintains instead of just draining.

If I put it in spa mode it works fine. Water level stays consistent.

If I have everything off, the water level does not drop.

I tried replacing the check valve, but somehow ordered a check valve cover and flapper assembly that was too small. I took it off anyway to inspect and don’t think that it was in bad shape, rubber seemed fine and spring was fine.

I also replaced the shaft and cover o-rings on the diverter.

What am I missing?

If more water is leaving the spa then is entering the spa the problem has to be with the Intake valve.

Normally the Intake valve (the one in front of your pump) is in the pool mode, so no water from the spa should passing through it.

Your Intake valve is leaking or it is not moving correctly.

Those valves go bad and go out of adjustment when they're not moving smoothly.

What I don’t get is that when in pool mode, nothing should be happening with the spa. No jets, no filling, etc. why would it empty?

Lots of spas are set up even in pool mode the spa jets get slightly opened so there's a very small spillover so the water gets mixed just like the pool.

Are 2 of your pumps pulling from the same suction inlet?

The larger pump is the main VSP. The smaller one with the small filter runs the three water sheers.
