Inusrance is paying to replace my pool filter, and I currently have the Hayward DE6020. I have seen the DE filters with with filter cartridge instead of the grid. Are they worth the extra money for the easier maintance? Or is there something else better that i am missing all together?

The cartridge style DE filters are 100% easier to clean and handle. I have a Quad DE that does a nice job.
With that said, most here would tell you that the biggest cartridge filter you can afford is the way to go.

A cartridge filter similar to the Pentair CCP 420 or 520 would work.
To me, DE filters are a pain. And you won't notice any difference in filtering or water dlarity.
