Small Filter for Pool Opening

When I open my pool in the Spring, there is dirt and dead algae that needs to be vacuumed up. It clogs my DE and I need to change it a couple times. I would rather just use a small cartridge filter that can easily be rinsed and reused. I was thinking of using something like a small Intex filter like this:

I need to get down 7-8' of my inground pool. Would this pump be able to pump up 8 feet? Does anybody have a different solution?

That pump will not vacuum your pool. That's a <7gpm pump. Your garden hose moves more than that.
A small above-ground pump that is self-priming can be used to vacuum to waste.
