SLAM question with autocover

So based on advice from here, we are trying to SLAM our pool. The online calculators for how much bleach I should be using must be WAY off. We really want to swim! I added bleach last night, then took readings again, no FC loss (it went up 2ppm) but I have an autocover. I see from a past search I should be keeping my autocover open. Can I add bleach during a hot sunny day and close the autocover or is that a huge no-no? For the past 3 days, we have been doing exactly that at sunset. Add bleach, close autocover. Currently:
FC 17 (I realize I have to get this up to 30 to kill algae)
CC 17
pH 7.2-7.4
TA 90
CYA 50 (added some stabilizer today)

So, should I just wait until tonight and add more bleach?

With my autocover I tend to keep my CYA on the slightly lower end for a SWG. Its a choice I make knowing that it won't be getting as much sun.
I agree with the above- that is a very small filter for that size pool!
