Skimmer help

Hello, im having a suction issue and went to the skimmer to see if it was clogged i see the hole in skimmer has like a plastic ball of some sort is it supposed to be there or something stick thanks

can you explain is that hole supposed to be open at all times and any idea how i can renove it
Looks like the front hole (hole nearest the pool) is the maindrain/equalizer port and it is plugged (2 skimmers/separate maindrain plumbing?). The back hole should be open, yes. Since I don't know what the object is, it would be hard to say how to remove it. Is it somewhat soft, like a plastic ball? poke a hole with a piece of wire, like a coat hanger. Bend a hook into the end, reinsert into the ball and try to pull it out.
 
Do you have a shop vac? I would turn the pool off and see if you can suck whatever it is out of that hole.

Or, try a Drain King from the pump to the skimmer. Don't know why I didn't think of that.:rolleyes:

Yes it looks like a plastic ball or something like that
