My Skimmer door has been getting stuck and the pump was sucking air. So I brainstormed and came up with a solution. I drilled a small hole at the bottom of the skimmer door and ran a 10 LBS fishing line through the bottom where I drilled the hole and tied it to the skimmer lid. I made sure I had enough tension that the door won’t close and it will stay halfway open.

It works with the hole drilled at the bottom. I have had no issues since I did this. You can go a little higher if you want when you drill the hole. Also, there is enough slack to remove the skimmer lid.

I thought about doing that and even cutting it. My door is a little over a 1/4 inch too wide at the top.I figured I go with the fishing string trick.I won't ever have to worry about it getting stuck again.
