I've got a weird issue that I've never experienced before. The flow out of my return started being very low so I backwashed and rinsed (have done this 10+ times since noticed the issue) and while the flow gets better for 1 day of running (8 hours) it then goes back to being weak.
The weird part is if I switch to recirculate the flow is high and works great. Then when I switch back to filter the flow is high again for a couple hours. Not sure why running in recirculate would temporarily fix the low flow in filter mode.
Any ideas are appreciated.

You are describing classic signs of excessive organics (algae). Do you test your own water with a Taylor K-2006C or TF-100 from the states? A full set of water test results would be ideal at this point.
