We are on a well and have noticed some rust spotting in our pool and have been removing with tablets. We have an auto fill from our well that is introducing rust. Could I put a tablet in the autofill bucket each week to prevent the spots?

What kind of tablet are you referring to? A chlorine tablet wouldn't normally have that effect on a metal stain.
The Vit C tablet will only remove stains when applied directly to the stain. You can use a sequestrant to prevent stains. More here about managing stains, Pool School - Pool Stains
