We hired a contractor to resurface and paint our saltwater fiberglass pool. The application and wait times passed and our pool was filled on May 15, 2023.

Problems we are having include:
  1. The color is coming off. You can see the pool resurface/repairs marks showing through. The brown marks look much worse in person and seem to be getting larger.
  2. If you leave a raft on the side of the pool, it will leave a white mark where it laid. This has happened with both plastic and cloth rafts.
  3. There is a white/chalky like film on the walls of the pool underwater. It has been completely wiped down with a microfiber cloth three times. After that process, it's very cloudy and clears up in about two days. Then it builds back up again. The pool contractor, who also cares for the pool weekly, has been unable to resolve the issue. The contractor has said that he is also having issues with other saltwater pools that he's used this paint on. For the last three weeks, he's been in the process of converting it back to chlorine to see if it makes a difference.
Any advice?

FYI, Contactor used Supreme Paints and Coatings.

Modern paints tend to act like you're seeing. Durability was traded off for enviornmental concerns. The salt content is irrelevant and switching to liquid chlorine won't change anything.

Sorry to say it’s pretty common with pool paints. You might have someone strip the paint off and reapply the gelcoat if it’s a fiberglass pool.

I certainly wish we had done more research before moving forward. Our contractor has offered to recoat it, but we've been advised by another not to let him. The other contractor said that all of it will need taken off and that recoating would only add another layer that will need removed.

Thank you for your feedback!
