Removing Stain in Mortar Between Coping

Our pool is 8 years old, we have a slate looking coping at pool edge. Between the coping the mortar approximately 3/8" wide is turning black in some places. Considering using Muriatic Acid or Bleach to remove this staining.

Anyone have any suggestions?
