Removing/selling above ground pool -- empty?

The ancient pump on the above ground pool that came with my house has died and I do not want to replace it, as no one really uses the pool anymore. I'd like to see if someone in my neighbourhood would be interested in taking the pool off my hands, but without the pump, of course, the pool is rapidly turning into a giant swamp. What are the risks if I take the water out, other than eliminating a place for mosquitos and frogs to breed?

Don't know what specific pool you have but a good storm can rip the liner and collapse the pool walls without water in it.

If you plan to sell it then take some pics of it withw ater in it, drain the pool, disassemble it, and stack up the pieces for someone to take it away.
