Hello experts,

Hayward recommends the following for their Salt and Swim SWG:
CYA: 30-50ppm
TA: 80-120ppm

However, on a SWG thread here (Water Balance for SWGs) TFP recommends:
CYA: 70-80ppm
TA: 60-80ppm

Do you all suggest I stay within manufacturer's range or TFP's?

TIA

Do you think that Hayward will be biased about its recommended levels? So are we. 😁

The industry recommendations mostly haven't been updated since the 80s/90s.

For almost 20 years, TFP has been using real world members experiences (near 400k of them) to tweak the scientific approach to pool care.

The manufacturer really doesn't care about anything besides getting out of their warranty. My SWG says directly on it to acid wash it every 3 months. My pool doesn't have calcium and therefore won't scale the cell, but they advise me to fill it with acid anyway. The shortened lifespan from acid cleaning only benefits them. They can put their #s in the same spot I tell them to put their advice. (Hint : there's no sunshine there).
