My pH recently rose to 7.9 and I tried to get it to 7.6 but was not successful so I left it at 7.7. Is that to be expected? Here is my log:
10/14: FC 5, pH 7.9 // added 36 oz MA
10/15: FC 6, pH 7.7 // added 11 oz MA
10/16: FC 6, pH 7.7 // added 11 oz MA
10/17: FC 5, pH 7.7 // added 11 oz MA
10/18: FC 6, pH 7.7 // maybe 7.65; can't get it down to 7.6; stopped trying
10/19: FC 6, pH 7.7, TA 60, CH 280, CYA 39
10/20: // not tested
10/21: FC 6, pH 7.7
Note that I have 50 ppm borates and my 15K gal pool is one year old.
p.s. It appears that I won't need to add the MA pump. The prior time my pH rose to 7.9 (on 9/22) I had added 1/2 gal MA. The pH dropped to 7.4 and then took until 10/14 to rise to 7.9. So I'm very happy that it took 23 days to rise back up.
Does that have anything to do with the lower amounts of daylight, more shade due to the trees on the South side and lower temperatures?
Also note that I've been advised to not add 1/2 gal but just enough to get it to 7.6 so that was my target this time - but I never got it that low.
