TY...I just want to find a painless solution. This is off topic for this pump issue... I will create another thread for the possible solutions on it .I am glad you found the problem once you focused on the right area of your plumbing.
Cut your chlorinator out and get some PVC and couplers and glue a piece of PVC in its place.
