It’s 6 feet short to the gfci plug so I bought an adapter... no juice at all. It’s plugged currently as shown below. No dice but it’s lit up.
is there a way for me to disconnect it, move it 6 feet & see if that’s the issue?
They both stay set, no tripping. I made them trip & reset, trip one, reset it, trip the other and over again so far they are showing solid functionality of power to the pump. My voltage meter is mia.
The guy I bought it from & the guy that set it up neither checked the pump nor cleaned it out to get the algae out. I would have done a full & complete clean out prior. I’ve been sorta pushed aside just because I’m new to the pool pump I’m not stupid! Rant over!
So Is there a way for me to pull off the one power box to get directly in a plug to test without draining a ton of water?
It sounds to me like the GFCI is not wired correctly. If the outlet is incorrectly wired, it will not trip, and there will not be any power.
You can test the outlet without a meter by simply plugging in any electrical device that you determined is working (a light, radio, or other electrical appliance) and test if the outlet is powered.
If there is no power:
1. Check the breaker
2. Check the wiring on the GFCI, the incoming wire (power) should be on the connections marked "LINE".
Have you tested the plug with a radio or lamp to see if it gets power? Have you tried a heavy duty extension cord to connect the pump to a known working outlet to see if it works then? You can get some longer hoses and move the pump over if you want to try that. Its not unusual for GFCI plugs and outlets to go bad or be bad, and they don't like to have an appliance with a GFCI plug used in an outlet with a GFCI.
