Pressure guage

Pressure gauge still reads 12 pounds pressure which is the start pressure even when the pump is off. Now when I turn on the pump for my normal morning circulation for the pool the pressure reading on the gauge increases another 15 pounds to a new reading of 24 psi. There was a couple days of freeze here in south Texas but that should not have damaged the gauge. I backwashed thinking that would correct the reading but to no avail. Is the preass gauge damaged? It is only a year old.

Many gauges say they are tolerant to winter temps but I don’t care to risk it & recommend removing them when winterizing/shutting down the pool.
My 1st gauge that came with my filter only lasted 1 year. I replaced it with a glycerin filled one
It has done well for me but as I said, I now remove it for the winter.
Pool pressure Gauges are a consumable part
