Well I have dumped my original pb and got a new estimate that is saving me about $5k on an 18x36. The pump with this pool is a Hayward ec65. Do I need to worry about the number or skimmers or returns? I'm not sure how many are inluded.

Yes you need to worry about them. On that size pool I'd recommend at least two skimmers and three or more returns.
