I know it goes against the mantra of smaller pumps being better, but I'd suggest the 1 hp 2-speed. You get much more savings on low than 1/2 hp single speed and you'll get plenty of flow for backwashing on high.

So it seems that Pentair SuperFlo pumps are designed specifically for inground pools.
Inground pumps can be used on aboveground pools especially the smaller ones.

Yep, that is a good pump. The only thing to consider is if you will eventually step up to a bigger filter, that pump may be at the edge of being able to backwash it properly. Some of that also depends on your plumbing. In the larger filter case, then I would recommend stepping up to at least the pentair dynamo 1 hp, or the hayward matrix 1 hp (I have this one and can actually run my solar panel on low...when my filter is clean).Bow_Extreme said:
