I know it goes against the mantra of smaller pumps being better, but I'd suggest the 1 hp 2-speed. You get much more savings on low than 1/2 hp single speed and you'll get plenty of flow for backwashing on high.

You might want to look at the Dynamo pumps.
Yep, that is a good pump. The only thing to consider is if you will eventually step up to a bigger filter, that pump may be at the edge of being able to backwash it properly. Some of that also depends on your plumbing. In the larger filter case, then I would recommend stepping up to at least the pentair dynamo 1 hp, or the hayward matrix 1 hp (I have this one and can actually run my solar panel on low...when my filter is clean).Bow_Extreme said:Already checking on them.
