Forget the skimmer plate if your are going to put a new valve in.

You should get a leaf canister to put inline for the cleaner, whether you leave it running from the skimmer or from the wall.

Are you asking about a weir door on the skimmer? Just measure the opening and look for any places that might allow the weir to mount and go see what the pool store has that will work. A universal spring loaded one is the easiest.
