We just purchased a home with an inground vinyl lined 25k gallon pool and a Hayward SP2602VSP pump with a sand filter and a Goldline Saltwater system. We came from about the same size pool with a DE filter and older 3/4 hp single stage pump that was on a timer and Goldline Salt system.
At our old place we never had to add water unless we went two full weeks without rain and full sunlight. Then the water would be near the bottom of the skimmer. We try to keep it above half way.
Seems this new place pool we have to add water every week. The previous owners said it would loose about 1/2" a day to evaporation. I say that is way off. I'm thinking there is a leak. The distance and location of this pool and our other place is about 70 miles, the only difference is we are only about a half mile from the intercoastal water way and the beach inland where out other pool was 70 miles inland here in eastern NC. New home is in Wilmington NC.
I just don't see that much evaporation happening, am I wrong?
If there is a leak, what is the best way to find it? The pool liner is 4yrs old according to the previous owners.
Also, I need to learn how to take care of a sand filter since I'm use to the cleanings of a DE along with filter pressures.
Recommendations on a good pool specialist if I need one. I pretty much take care of what I can and have embraced the knowledge and support on this sight and appreciate Troublefreepools.com very much.
Thanks for all and any help.
