Hi, I have a pool with a copper rod ionizer which does a great job but occasionally need a shock for algae on the walls. I added chlorine to super clear water but with some green on the walls and this happened... the ph is super low. Is it a copper chlorine reaction or an algae one, what do I do??

Welcome to TFP.

Yeah, that is from the copper in your pool water. We never recommend putting copper in the pool water.

Our recommendation would be to remove your copper ionizer and drain the pool and refill it with copper free water and start over.

Give the pool a few days and let the chlorine level drop and the green tint may disappear.

Can you bring your pool water to a store who can test for the copper level in your pool?
