Pool cover anchors in Travertine deck

I bought the 1x18 inch long brass anchors in the aluminum tubes to install in my floating travertine deck. However, when I core drilled a 1 inch hole into my scrap piece and then tried to install the long anchor, it fractured my scrap piece of travertine. Luckily, it was a scrap piece. I guess the hole needs to be 1-1/8” as to avoid putting stress on the travertine. So, if I use the 1-1/8” wet core drill, I will have about a 1/16” gap all around my anchor. What should I use to fill in the gap for a clean finish?

A colored grout will probably work.

If the sand in the grout is too course, you can screen it to remove the larger sand particles.

You can also use an unsanded grout that is made for very tight grout lines.

The tricky part is to get the grout in the gap clean without getting grout into the anchor.

You can maybe cut some round blue painter's tape to put over the anchors as you grout.
