Hey!

Have done a bunch of reading here and everywhere but still am not sure what to get.

We have a new 28x14 rectangle with steps and a spa. around 10-11,000 gallons I think. We have a retractable cover that will usually be on since we have a young kid.

Would like something that isn't insanely expensive and has some staying power. I'm not the most handy but can fix easy things so if there's one out there that has easy fixes I'd be curious.

Really appreciate the help!

It depends on your system.
Do you have a designated suction side vac line?
Do you have a booster pump for a return side?
The consensus here is a robot cleaner like the dolphin series.
If you have a suction side port for the vacuum(common in Southern California) the two wheel pool vergnuegen pool cleaner is a good option. They rarely ever break down and have a flex turbine that allows them to operate on low rpm/gpm.
