Can anyone point me to where it says how deep the bonding halo for a gunite pool should be buried? I’ve got about 15’ laying on the ground and the pool company is saying “most people just put some mulch on top of it”.

I'm seeing 4" to 6" below finished grade 18" to 24" out from the pool. See the link below, page 70-566.

We buried mine 6 inches as per code. The inspector failed me however because he considered the patio as grade, not the earth. So I had to pull it up and lay it on the ground which then got 4 inches of concrete slab and 2+ inches of pavers.

Sometimes inspectors seem to think they're imbued with special powers far above the ability of the average home owner to comprehend.
I certainly wouldn't want just mulch over mine.... easy to accidentally cut, trip on, whatever? Mine is about 4" down
