Polaris 280, broken rear wheel axel

The rear axel on my 280 snapped off and I'm trying to figure out if the axel is a separate part, or part of the flat wheel plate. The grey axel seems like it's glued to the white plate and won't come apart very easily. I've tried to watch some youtube videos, but they never show any pics of the plate part. Thanks.

Edit: never mind I think I found what I need. apparently the flat piece is a sand guard

Yep that is the wheel axle. Each wheel has its own assembly that attaches to the body with 2 screws. Only the turbine has an axle (as you think of a long rod) that attaches to the inside of the wheels via a gear system.
