I am doing RV antifreeze this year but it was $3 a gallon and I'm planning on using 4 gallons. I'm most worried about my skimmers as it's inevitable that snow will get in there and melt/freeze/melt/freeze.
Alright, one other thing I keep finding conflicting information on. Sorry I keep asking stuff.
I was going to pick up a winterize chemical kit, I noticed many are chlorine free? I also noticed in the past people said to always go with the chlorine shocks, etc. Is there something you guys use in particular?
Recommended method is to bring chlorine to shock level using liquid chlorine and let FC drift down between shock level and target level.
Add 60% polyquat algaecide while the pump is running, allow to circulate for 30 minutes then lower the water. I get mine from Amazon because it is 50% cheaper than local sources.
That sounds way easier than what I have come across elsewhere. You say 60% polyquat algaecide, is that a mixture ratio, or a little over half the bottle? (most likely a stupid question)
It is the ratio of the active ingredient. Take a look at other algaecides and you will see active ingredient ratio is smaller. Also, other algaecides might have copper which could cause staining and will turn blonde hair green.
Read the product label and add the maximum dosage.
