Found a 2 ft section of the pool floor cracked, pool was replastered 5 years ago. Is this repairable? Or do I have to replace all the plaster. Any ideas why this would happen?

I think that is due to over troweling the plaster.

But let's get @onBalance to chime in.

The plaster has delaminated due to bonding failure of the new plaster to the underlying surface.
Sometimes when this happens, calcium nodules form where there are cracks. In your case, I don't see any calcium nodules, but the problem is still delamination.

In your case, the plaster coat or finish is appears to on the thin side. Because of that, the plaster coat is breaking off completely. Plaster areas where there is a loss of bonding will likely have a "hollow sound" when tapped with something like the plastic end of a screw driver.

To repair, the pool will need to be drained, and patch work could be tried. If there are many areas where the plaster is flaking off, then an entire re-plaster may be needed.

Here is an article that discusses plaster bonding failure.

my delaminated plaster hole grew a little bigger, pool company says that its reparable. in the winter the water got drained from my pool cover pump when the pool cover failed and was empty for about 2 months until i was able to scrape the ice off of it. wondering if that was the cause of the delamination. also wondering if not having the plaster can hurt the gunite until i convince the pool company to make the repair.
