Pipe sizing and fitting choices

After 15 years of use, some of my major pool equipment is getting a little tired and could use replacement soon. All of the existing equipment has 2 inch connectors, yet all of it is reduced to 1-1/2" and all of the suction, returns and equipment are all 1-1/2 with 90 sharp elbows. It would seem to me that if the individual return and suction lines are 1-1/2", once they are merged together, the interconnecting equipment plumbing would benefit from having 2" lines and eliminate all of the reducing fittings. Further efficiencies in flow with reduced turbulence through the SWG might also be improved by the use of 90-degree bends rather than sharp elbows.
Is there sufficient flow improvement to warrant increasing the interconnect pipe sizes and longer elbow sweeps when upgrading my equipment?

Not really.

When making equipment changes you might as well use 2” pipe.

With modern low and slow VS pump operation turbulence and efficiency are not the consideration they were in the days of 2HP single speed pumps and continuous high flow rates.
