ok so I have been doing TFP for about 5 years now, and it works great! Bit of trouble after I opened up my pool last weekend. we have a pool cover, and I took it off, shocked the heck out of it and looks great.
Cant get ph and alkalinity in line though. Alkalinity was about 140. I used acid and got it down some but now PH is 7.0 ish. then I put borax in and got the PH up but alkalinity still too high. 110-120
any suggestions? Maybe I left it alone for a few days and then check it. Chlorine good as of yesterday was 9 I believe. follow up noticed I started TFP 2013 I think? wow longer than I thought then I also read pool chemical basics. should have done that first sorry. I will try aeration. if that doesnt work though any other suggestions?

With a TA of 110-120 -- no need to add borax. The pH will rise, quickly. Just leave the cover off.
