Pentair Solar Temperature Sensor is reading way off for air temperature

I have a Pentair solar heating system for my pool. The water temperature is reading in the 70s (fairly accurate) but the air temperature is consistently reading in the 120s even on cloudy days when the air temp is in the 60s and 70s. There's no way direct sunlight is responsible. Is there any way to test the sensor and see if it's a problem with the sensor itself or something else with my set-up?

FYI, we have not had this problem the past two years but have had it pretty consistently since we opened the pool this spring.

The temperature sensor is a 10K thermistor. You can test the resistance with a multimeter and compare it against this chart...
