I have had my current heater for 6 years and late last season started having problems with heater running for 1-10 minutes and dropping out. Many service calls. Finally pool service recommended I call gas company because drop in pressure was more than 2". Currently, at 7", drops to 5" when starting then slowly drops and heater kicks off at about 4.6".
Never had a problem in 15 years.
Can I put a regulator on the pool to lower starting pressure to 6" so the drop is less than 2"?
Going to have to spend lots of money to scope the gas line for obstructions or water. Gas company was no help as they only guarantee 4".
