Pentair Intelliflow3 011075

This clearly implies the product is being sold by and from the Pentair Store (not just that it is a Pentair product)
To me it only implies that Amazon recognizes there is manufacturer outlet as well. In this case, Pentair doesn't sell to the public so it's redirecting you to the Pentair general website, which sells replacement parts, but not the equipment.

Although some manufacturers do sell through Amazon directly, I assume it's always through a 3rd party if I buy something there.

I think any Amazon seller who sells Anything products can create an Anything Store.
I think so. But I've been assuming that the Anything store belongs to the seller, and reflects what he alone sells on Amazon, even if it's products are manufactured by others.

I've also been assuming that something that reads "Pentair Store" is created and managed by Pentair. Especially when the store's page is using Pentair's logo and graphics and Pentair's website's look and feel.

So I guess I've now got another thing to be aware of.

Did this guy (or can anyone) create an Amazon store that looks like it belongs to the Pentair corporation? But not actually be affiliated with Pentair?

Or is the Pentair store actually run by Pentair, but anyone can link their listing to it, as if that product is being sold directly by Pentair?

Or both?

If either is true, that would be incredibly deceptive and not particularly Amazon-like. Maybe flat-out illegal?

Huh. Well I just poked around. From the Pentair Amazon Store, I can click on product categories and see Pentair products for sale, including prices. I can click on those, and get an Amazon listing, which also reads "Visit the Pentair Store," but the product is actually being sold by some third party. Just as you said.

But not just one third party. Different Pentair parts are being sold by different third parties, all using this same store front.

So I just have never paid attention to this. But I stand by the notion that this is misleading. And not just because I fell for it. The seller info is much farther down the page, and in relatively small print. The "Pentair Store" moniker is listed second and relatively prominent. It clearly is a deception, however innocent it might actually be (IMO).

That's disappointing, but now I know. Credit to the TFP forum, where I learn something new every day.

I would be all like "Hey man, where's my pump"?

And, they would be all like "Um...it's...um...it's on like backorder and stuff".

And, then I would be all like "You don't got no pump do you"?

And, they would be all like "Ok, man, dude, you caught us, we were totally lying about everything".

But, that's me, you wait it out for another week or two if you want.

In my opinion, you are just wasting your time unless they can prove that they have it and they intend to ship it out.

Their page said that they had 2 in stock, so why does it take 2 weeks to ship the product?

Their story does not make any sense.

Judge Judy says that if it doesn't make sense, then it is probably not true.

Listen to Judy, she knows stuff.

Yep! It arrived, exactly as described, on Saturday. Brand new, instruction manuals and fittings all unopened. The box was a little battered but that’s not unexpected.

I installed it Sunday, let the glue set overnight and when I got home from work tonight, primed it and started it running … and it’s running now. I ran it at 100% for a couple of hours but it’s back down to 30gpm.

I was so tempted to cancel but so glad I didn’t.

And thank you to the poster who said to get a submersible pump, that worked a treat. The pool is very cloudy but blue not green.

Congrats on the gamble.

Looks like every other IF3 I've unpacked.
Check that the serial # on the pump and box match, and go register on the Pentair site. It'll tell you if it's been previously registered and was a warranty swap or some other funny business. Pentair is really, really good about their warranties.

But all signs point to a score. 🙌

Glad it all worked out.

Dry out your backup pump and its hose, pack it away and it'll be ready for ya next time you have a need.

I haven't had an emergency use for mine yet, but I tested it out when I needed to empty my pool a bit for a mini-exchange (to bring down my CH). Worked like a charm.

Congrats on the new pump. Do follow up on the warranty and registration as suggested, before your Amazon return window closes. I just read another thread here where a brand new Intelliflow3 stopped working. Might be the drive, which I understand is a very expensive repair. May be something else. Either way, Pentair issued a warranty repair for it without a squawk, as if it was a known issue. So you'll want that warranty confirmed, just in case.

Just a word of caution ⚠️ here as all these high tech equipment have lots of sensitive electronics and doesn't take much of a lightening strike nearby to fry them causing them to quit working. Have a surge protector installed in the same sub panel the equipment is powered from thereby protecting from a surge closest to the equipment for best protection.
