Pentair Heat Pump heating pool when off!

Well this is strange. We own an Airbnb with a pool and spa we installed in the fall. We control our pentair heat pump and propane heater using the very outdated ScreenLogic app on our iOS devices. When a guest pays to heat the pool, we turn on a schedule to heat it the night before, then delete the schedule when they leave.

We’ve noticed for the last couple of months the pool has been staying in the 80’s, even when the air temp wasn’t that high most of the time. Was at the house yesterday and noticed the heat pump was running while we didn’t have the heat on! Also have had some gigantic electric bills, which we were very thrown off by. We do have a single schedule that runs the filter all day, but for the life of us, cant figure out why the heat pump is running all day. Any buried settings we should look for?

Our contractor and pentair were also stumped.

First thing I would check is if the heater relay opens and closes when you command heat OFF and ON. Use a multimeter on continuity or ohms setting. We have seen relay contacts weld themselves shut.

Check the firemans switch control wire between the EasyTouch and HP for a short or signs a critter chewed on it.
