So today I started summerizing my pool. I put together my CCP420 and now my arms feel like I have splinters in them from the filter top. I was using a mallet to tap the clamp all around dragging my arm across the top. The filter is about 9 years old. Could it be coming apart? Looks ok to me. I'm just concerned if it maybe losing integrity.

Quite common really with many filter housings. Aside from wearing a long sleeved shirt during maintenance, others have opted to cleaning & very lightly sanding the surface, then painting their filters. There are a variety of very good spray products that do wonders. I've seen some end results here on the forum, but would have to search for the threads. It can resolve the faded appearance from years of UV damage, and also protect you quite a bit from the fiberglass.
