Hey Guys,
I see a large range of prices for the de quad filters. Can anyone recommend an affordable aftermarket filter that is reliable? Or a reason not to use an aftermarket? I want to buy an extra set to switch out while I’m cleaning the old ones. Also just incase one fails I’ll have backups. Thanks

The cartridges are probably the biggest single expense of the filter. If you have to buy all four, it’s a significant fraction of the cost of a new filter. Last time I looked, they were running over $120 per cartridge and im sure the price has gone up.

I would only stick with OEM replacements. If not manufactured with the correct standards and materials, they will fail.

My plan is to get rid of the DE filter and go with a cartridge filter (Clean and Clear).

Thanks you for the advice.
Could you please let me know what is causing the filter to be coming “unglued or melted”?

Any chance your filter is plumbed backwards?

Do you have the CORRECT multiport valve for the QuadDE? There is a specific model number for them. The Pentair sand filter MPV and DE MPV look identical except they are not identical internally.

There is two bypasses, one right after the pump. It splits the flow to the filter and the waterfall. The other is just before the heater. The filters seem to be collecting the debris on the outside of cartridges so I think the flow is running in the right direction.
