Based on the black dust, I think that you will be able to see a burned spot pretty easily.

I would say that the motor is dead.

I would switch to a variable speed pump like the SuperFlo VST or IntelliFlo VST.

If you want to take the motor apart to see where the break in the windings is, that would be interesting if you can share.

haha I have better things to do! On to finding a replacement motor or $1100 for a VST pump (ouch).

A V-green 165 (ECM16SQU) will bolt to that pump. Your pump is a 1.65 total horsepower pump and this motor matches that.
