Hey again TFPExperts,
I'm so glad y'all are here to help me and others figure out what to do with our pools without breaking the bank!!
Okay, here I go...we opened our pool to green water, very little debris and a colony of ants that have taken up residence under a corner of the pool decking where it meets the pool. There was red dirt all down the corner walls. Has anyone had experience with ants in their pool? Will they go away now that it's open? I can't just dig up the concrete or spray because it's right next to the water.
After testing last night, I added 4 pounds of stabilizer, 4 pounds of baking soda and 3 gallons of LC to adjust levels and hopefully start a SLAM. This morning my levels are...
pH 7.2
FC 1
CC 1
CYA >20, it was 0 last night but test water is cloudy so I know it's not 0.
TA 80
CH 200
I don't have any more CYA, and only 3 gallons LC left. My question is, should I go ahead and add those or wait until I have more CYA and LC? The pool was green last night, it's more blue today. Hubby will brush and vacuum again today. It's very cloudy here today also.
I also would like someone to explain the numbers on the jug of LC for me please?! I've attached a pic of mine. 20230604_084022.jpg

Welcome back FW !!!!

You know you added 20 ppm of CYA so it's at least a 20. But under 30 is sketchy to read, especially if the 20 wasn't well mixed yet.

So.

SLAM at 20 (10FC) and retest in a day or two. If the CYA hasn't gone up to 30, add 10 ppm and then adjust the FC to 12.

If the CYA is a 30 in a day or two, adjust the FC to 12.

10% chlorine (Sodium Hyperchlorite) / 90% water.

You can see the dirt even after pressure washing. And dead ants on the ledge.

And how do you tell when the LC was made by those numbers on the bottom?
