I’ve had an in ground pool for 3 years now and I’m opening myself for the first time. I had a company close it. I found this plug and plastic screws in the pump basket. I’ve never seen either of these before. Anyone know what they are for?

The thumb screw plugs are for the drain holes in your pump. Lubricate the Oring with pool lube.
The other plug might be for the drain on the filter? Take a look towards the bottom of the filter.

Spot on, thanks! The booster pump is not in use so I’m not worried about that. So I assume I should install all 3 plugs, lube the o ring, reinstall the basket and lid, open the valves (pool plugs are already removed), release pressure in filter, switch to filter mode, then run it?

The plug should have been removed with the rest to prevent freeze damage to the booster pump.

The pump is part of the system, so the pump has to be plugged and not leak.
Well I see that they left it in apparently. I have a dolphin so I don’t really care.

Hmm on second thought I see what you’re saying, if the booster pump pipes are connected to the system then the system is potentially compromised. Hmm. Guess we’ll see.

Thanks. Next question - should I leave these cover screws in or out for the summer season? I forget 🤦‍♂️

Thanks everyone! I had to slam since the walls had algae (opened a little late, water was at 60), but we already passed the OCLT this morning so we’re all good!
