Opened Pool

It’s a little green so will definitely get to do my first slam.

Bigger concern is we noticed water behind the liner. I’m pretty sure it’s not a hole in the liner (pool built last year). I did notice a time or two last year where at the edges on the bottom felt mushy like water behind the liner, but was hoping it would just go away. It’s much worse this year where I feel the edges of the pool even have some give. Definitely concerned and thinking I should call in a pool person to check out.

What is all that black stuff under the coping? Did they use black mortar?

Nothing black. I think it’s just the shadow of the overhang in that picture. Here’s another look.

We have a sump pit next to our pool to evacuate any ground water that might get under or around the perimeter of the pool. We must have some natural water under our ground as we found some old broken clay drainage tiles from the 1940s below ground. This neighborhood used to be a farm field. It must have stood in water from time to time. I depend on my sump pump and use it every time it rains.

I’ve been reading about those, and thinking this will be a likely option for me. My pool builder did put in a retaining wall and French drain to try and divert some of the water from expected. (Pictures below)

Looking back I wish i knew about the sump pit idea. I really think that will be what I need. Just need to know where to have it placed.

Mine is next to the pool, in the photo you can see the green hose and white extension cord that’s connected to it. We drain it into a dry creek bed just to the left of the concrete patio.
