Normal Jandy Filter Pressure Range

I just finished cleaning our Jandy CS250 filter cartridge for the first time and after starting everything back up I realized I completely forgot to check what psi we’d been operating at up until now. At the moment the pressure is going up to 30 psi on startup and then leveling out at about 19 psi with the pump running at 2800 rpm and all water features on. Is this within normal range? I’ve seen some things saying normal is between 10-25 and others saying 5-20. Thanks!

What pump do you have?

The water has to go through the filter and two heaters in series and each has a Head-Loss based on the flow in GPM.

Why is the Pool Return valve partially closed?

Hey B!!

No two rigs are the same, which is why blanket reccomendations of cleaning the filter at 10 psi increases (looking at you 'the industry') is troublesome. My system runs around 4 psi and others in the 20s. That's a honking range of psi increase from 250% to 50%. So we go with 25% increase so at least it's relevant to your system. Some need sooner and some can go longer, but it's a good start point.

Turn everything off except for the regular returns and bypass the heater (if you have one/ can). Then ramp up the RPMs to priming speed and take a psi reading and use that as your baseline. All the other bells and whistles add flow restriction (higher psi) so only use the returns if possible.
