Newbie needs HELP!!

The OCLT is designed to be done when there is no sunlight. FC is eaten by sun and by organics, ideally, if you remove all sun from the test... your loss will be assumed to be organics in the pool. If sun has been on the pool, it will be difficult to make that distinction. I am no expert, but it has been my understanding that the test be performed after the sun goes down and retested before the sun comes up.

Dattia has it just right!

Eliminate the sun from your testing for complete accuracy. Testing for FC after it has been exposed to the sun lets the possibility of error creep in to this VERY accurate test and the results need to be VERY accurate.
