New test kit, CYA question

If you can do the test twice and get the same result, you should trust your results over the pool store results. With just a little practice, I am sure you will be testing water better than most of the "pros".

Don't automatically assume that the pool store person did the test more accurately than you did. The CYA test is one of the most subjective tests and can sometimes take some practice to read correctly. On the other hand, pool stores make truly amazing errors all the time, despite their "experience" doing tests. We hear a huge number of stories every year of wildly wrong pool store test results.

I tried the CYA test again today, then had a genius moment--poured the stuff from
the view tube back into the squeeze bottle, and just did measurement again.
3 tries got varied answers from 40 to 50. So I guess I'm learning to be consistent
enough within the bounds of what the test is capable of.

Pool Store Dude's smooth moves struck me as more showy than competent.
Turns out his numbers weren't too far from mine, so maybe he did sort of know
what he was doing.
