OMG!!! They are really moving! I think you're home free! It is going to be fabulous!!!!! :whoot:

You couldn't have asked for a better time for your concrete to be poured - cooler temperatures, overcast skies, and then rain to cure it - perfect!!

You have the most amazing PB. Give him a hug or handshake for me!!! Suz.

Perfect timing for your decking. Suz is right as usual, it will speed up the time to cure and it will look fabulous, I'm sure they are all working around those storms down there and he knew he had a few good hours to get it completed. :) Enjoy and just add a little more bailey's - your pool builder sounds like he is really on his game. I wish you would send him up to me :p

Looking awesome! I love the pics between the blinds, like we are peeking out! lol

Amanda: You are so observant! I didn't even notice the blinds. That really is cool!

Wendy: I think most of us would agree you have the greatest PB! If I remember correctly, your dig was after mine, and clearly you will finish your pool before mine. I don't mind, but it's funny since we've experienced similar weather. In fact, I think you've been hit with more rain than us in Cypress. And..... you took off TWO weeks to go gallivanting around on ships to enjoy a get-away from the dirt, muck, and mess!

Wait a minute.... I think I DO mind! Not fair! Not fair!

Suz drowning in her own tears! :arrow: :drown:

My only consolation is it couldn't happen to a nicer gal and her hubby! Enjoy your day! Suz.

Side note - has anyone done puppy paw prints in concrete? We tried to do it in the equipment pad (it was gunite) and we couldn't make an imprint (like an hour after the guys left) Concrete looks a LOT wetter than the gunite - so I think it will be easier - I don't want to mess it up - but I would LOVE to have my lil ole lady's paw print somewhere. She is going to leave us soon - and it would just be a great memory.

Anyone done it and have suggestions? How long do we wait to do it? Will the concrete harm the paw?

Ha!!! Suz - I am pretty sure you might have held up your build with your gorgeous custom glass and tile order! I am SO glad you did - your pool (especially that spa) is going to be so worth the wait.

I feel VERY lucky but I do think it is just luck - I interviewed your PB and it was truly a toss up - he is phenomenal. Not sure when my pool will get done - I am trying not to stress about it and just live in the excitement of the moment. Which today is DECKING!! WAHOO!

Great idea about the paw prints. I've heard concrete can burn the skin. I know dog's paw pads are tougher, but if she's an older dog.....

What about putting some sort of gel substance on the paw pad first as a shield between her pad and the concrete? Then rinse it all off immediately. Maybe something like Neosporin ointment? I use that often on my kitties when they have scrapes or itchy places, and it never harms them.

Just brainstorming here..... Suz.

You will need a bowl of water.
If you had a little mortar mix it would make it easier, but not a necessity. Mixing a little to put on the location means there is less aggregate to content with, smoother.
You want the concrete as wet as possible to get the paw print in.

When you do it you will have to jiggle the paw side to side slightly to get it to sink in. You don't want to just plunge in.
It has the effect of liquifying the surface slightly.
Rinse her paw immediately to ensure the lime does not irritate her paw.
Go back and touch it up by hand.
If water pools , use a paper towel to sop it up while you perfect the print.

My boys have any number of palm signatures in out place.

That is a great idea! I use Olive Oil on her dry nose - I wonder if that might work. A nice coating for her paw. I wonder if it would hurt the concrete . . .

This is GREAT! Thank you! Do you think that Olive Oil would be helpful or harmful?

Unnecessary, her paw will be in the concrete for less then a minute and then rinsed.
I do a lot of little concrete projects that I get it on my hands a lot.
You are supposed to wear gloves, and I would if I was handling it for extended periods.
For such a short contact it is not a problem.

They were putting finishing touches on it (broom) when it started POURING. They covered everything in tarps and moved to the garage. Now they are back out at it - they uncovered and started brushing off all the water - then started floating everything again. Poor guys.

She loves us! She really does! Look at all of the pics! HEHE

Poor guys having to float it all over again.

Paw print-I did my dog's on the equipment pad. It had to be done almost right after they poured it as it was so hot it was already drying. I just made sure the hose was right there to rinse his foot off with.

The guys just left - but they covered the concrete with tarps - and the hubby is gone, so I don't think that I will be able to manage a dog in the mud - trying to get the tarp off and it raining. So looks like no dog print :(

On a side note - I contacted a bulk water place (H2ecO Bulk) to see how much it would cost to fill up the pool . . .

We can deliver and pump 4200 gal tankers to Conroe for $399 each.

Think I will stick with the water hose method.

I just wanted it to go faster. I feel like it has taken forever to get to this point - I just want to get in the water!!!

I did test my tap - really just to play with my testing kit and stirrer :) Here were my numbers.
FC = .5
PH = 7.5
TA = 170
CH = 175
CYA = 0
