I had the Mastertemp 400K installed with a new gas meter. Today I turned it on for the first time and it says "heating" for a minute then switches to service heater. Is there any troubleshooting that I can do before paying for someone to come out to look at it?

We are already having a leak specialist come out this week to try to figure out why our pool isn't holding water. This pool build is just one nightmare after another. I'm getting really discouraged. :(

Paul will probably chime in shortly with an answer, but this is a new build so shouldn't you get it free of charge to have
the installer check?

I hope whatever the leak is, is a simple cost free fix, you've been on this build for a long time.

Silly question, but are you sure they turned on the valve to the heater?

Call Pentair service and find your nearest warranty center. They will come out and check it out. It's under warranty so don't let just anybody mess with it.

Yes, what ps0303 said. It can be a long wait for someone to pick up but worth it. Pentair will send a warranty station to check it out.

I'm sorry, I misread your original post. Do you ever feel heat from the exhaust of the heater or just cold air? If no heat you can check your main gas meter shut-off valves as well as the gas valve inside the heater. It has a on/off toggle switch that is left in the off position usually till the plaster cures for 28 days.

I had the same issue first time using my heater, the gas was turned off. Turned it on (the valve installed next to the heater) and I was in business. Could be other things as well however and I don't really know how to troubleshoot them.
