Need advice.. opened pool when it was 90 and it’s going to be cold this week

I opened my above ground pool earlier this week when the temp hit 90 with 86 and 84 degree days after. Now I’m looking at the weather forecast and it’s going to get cold soon with snow possible tonight.

Attaching weather forecast. I just turned off my salt system but the pump is still going. I’ve already balanced water and salt etc.

Curious if I should consider putting a rubber plug in my inlet and skimmer and try to drain the sand filter and water from pipes salt cell and heat pump. Or should I ride it out with the salt system off? I’ve never saw this large of a temp swing since I got my pool.

Last year we went from ice in the pool to algae in 3 days so I jumped on it quick this year. Thoughts??

Just run your system when temps are dipping below freezing.

Came here to say same- too much hassle to drain things, much safer to keep things moving. Still water freezes much faster than running water.
