N/B IG pool/spa/grotto/waterfall/slide start 7/26

None of them work. The electrician came out today to check them and said they are all hooked up correctly. Going to have the pentair rep come out and check them.

I'm thinking the same thing as you though, really all 3 don't work. [emoji53]

So my electrician told me that my bubbler lights did not work. Both of them. I called pentair, their warranty guy came out (very quickly and very nice), and checked them. Sure enough they didn't work, and they are going to warranty them, including performing the replacement. That's the good news... What he told me was, that they electricians probably won't fess up to it, but chances are they turned them on and had them on longer than they are supposed to be on without water and they burned out. The chances for both bubblers being bad are slim to none.. BUT they would replace them under warranty. Just an FYI... He said something about the electricians probably didn't notice when they were testing something else.

anyways... Hopefully they will do the same for you.

I'm hoping for the best!

Alright, so I've been having a pool guy come for start-up. His first day was on Thursday 9/1. He is doing an acid start up. As of now, he has added acid, water conditioner, and some liquid chlorine. Today, he started running the pump and added DE to the skimmer. He's not coming back until Tuesday. I used my TF-100 to test my water and now I want to know if there is anything I should do or add to my pool. It's going to be a SWG, but obviously I can't do any of that for the first 3 weeks, so what levels am I looking at SWG or Chlorine?

PH- 6.8 or lower
FC- 7.5 ppm
CC- .5 ppm
TC- 8 ppm
CH- 200 ppm
TA- 30
CYA- 0

TIA!

Nope Sr. That is no plaster due to bad pH or alkalinity, in the first place is not used white plaster in waterfalls, instead they use cement and painted over, that white marks are just the minerals from water such magnesium, calcium, metals, salt if is a salt system generating chlorine or if is used chlorine such liquid or dichlor that has sodium chlorite and too much total disolved solids as a compound, water flows and when evaporated leaves the minerals behind and if is any small cracks in the fall then will absorve it and accumulate the dried minerals, the only way to clean the fall is by blast it or add muriatic acid and brush but both methods will eat the color of the artificial rock, so you will need an specialist in water falls to paint the cleaned surface and try to match the color. Unfortunately this will always happens, is very common in clients pools with artificial rocks and painted over, if is made of real rocks then you wouldn't have to pain it ever but that is artificial. Note: keep your pH below 7.7 and alkalinity below 110 to prevent minerals stick harder to the rock or tile.

Juan, she just had a new plaster installed where they are currently doing an acid startup. What remains on her waterfall is plaster dust. Her water is currently too aggressive to leave behind that much dissolved solids, and her TDS is not that high anyway.

Your water comes from the same place mine does and it is EXTREMELY hard. We spoke with a pool guy (was from Leslie's but hey, he knew what he was talking about as far as I could tell), and he recommended a descaling additive into the water. We're considering that... though I need to read up on it and see what it might do to the rest of the pool when I get into the chem next month.

But, I would think that as mentioned, it may be plaster dust (what is this???) because while our water is hard, it wouldn't leave a deposit that visible after ONE use...

Descaling additives are not necessary with proper water chemistry management. Scale is rather easy to control and prevent, even in my pool which has 8x the calcium content that comes out of the faucets in my house. Your fill water is as good as it's ever going to get.
