Hi, as i opened my pool, my heater was spraying water all over... i stopped the pump and had a quick look. it was clear a little part came loose.

i threaded it back on and am back in business.

a photo of the part is below... it seems to be some kind of little sensor, as it has 2 wire leads.
my questions:
1) what is this?
2) how did it come loose or did my pool closing co. remove it?
3) does it matter which lead which wires go on (2 purple wires)? to thread it back on i removed the wires... i think i got them back in the right posts... not sure.

the device sits just on top of the inlet manifold of the heater (pentair) and has a yellow sticker. where it threads onto the manifold it is hollow, as if water is supposed to be
moving through it... perhaps a pressure switch? (pstat)
should I worry now that it's back in place?

It's a pressure switch.

The closing company probably removed it for winterizing, although it really wasn't necessary.

It just screws back in. Use some teflon or sealant to make sure that it doesn't leak.

The wires can go to either terminal.
