Liquid winterizer pH???

I bought a pool winterizing kit for my 25k gallon in ground pool. Before applying the chemicals I set my water within specified range. The pH was approx 7.4. After applying the liquid winterizer the pH shot up way beyond 8.2 on the top of the scale. This is very alarming. Looking for an MSDS sheet, I found one for product that stated the pH is 5.0 to 7.0 in a 10% solution. That said, there should be no way the pH shoots up that high when this product is applied. How is this corrected? What do I do? Is this temporary? I never bothered to check pH after applying chemicals in the past so don’t know if that is normal.

Sadly, there is no need for a 'winterizing' kit.

What was in it? Normally is cal hypo, an algaecide, and a metal sequestrant.
